Vermont Cheese Camp: The Land of Milk & Mountains (A Journey of Cheese’s Past and Present)

Learn what makes Vermont unique compared to other cheese producing states, glimpse how Vermont cheese and dairy are tackling sustainability, meet a cheesemonger and learn how to build a cheese board, bite into cheese (literally – there will be cheese sampling) and its role in tackling historic climate instabilities, meet cheesemakers firsthand, and enjoy a tour through the beautiful Hildene estate and its creamery!

Learn about the daily lives of cheesemakers and what makes Vermont unique compared to other cheese producing states. Featuring Andi Wandt of Shelburne Farms, Molly Semler of von Trapp Farmstead, Jesse Werner of Plymouth Cheese Factory, and Laura Ginsburg, Vermont Agency of Agriculture.

On the Hildene terrace with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and sweeping valley, enjoy a discussion and tutorial from cheesemonger Mary Tuthill on creating a gourmet cheese board. Talk about different styles, flavors, textures and techniques. Learn how to blend them all together to create a show stopping and delicious cheese board! Featuring a tasting of local Vermont Cheeses and accoutrements.

Join Peg Gallup, Hildene cheesemaker, for a tour of the on-site dairy, including meeting the Nubian goat herd that makes Hildene’s cheese possible.
